Heart: Bringing God’s love to those who are going through a difficult time.
Hand: Meeting those practical needs that patients have… It is a long road traveled from diagnosis to remission.
The Karey Fox Foundation was started in memory of a dear friend, Karey Fox, that was lost in October of 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer. Throughout her fight, she never gave up and always had a positive attitude.
Karey had cancer, but cancer NEVER had her.
In being with her through her cancer treatments, we saw many needs that are necessary to be met for cancer patients undergoing treatments. We desire to be available as God opens doors to meet those needs. Through this Foundation, we hope to help as many people as possible.
We are looking to expand what we can provide for those in need with your help.

What We Do:
Snack Baskets In Cancer Treatment Centers: Providing a basket full of snack like foods for patients, families or their friends who accompany them. Often times patients are sitting in treatments for many hours. We provide them with a basket right there for them to choose from many snacks to help them get through until they are able to eat a meal. When you are sitting there…. a granola bar goes a long way…. House Cleaning Services: Patients who are in treatment often times do not have the energy to be able to keep up with the everyday chores that keep up a home. It is important for their immune systems to be in a clean environment. We provide cleaning services to many in these situations. Services we would like to provide as funds become available: Transportation to and from treatments…. Help with financial needs….such as…. Utility bills…. food bills… Medical Co-payments….etc. I believe in meeting these needs in a timely manner…. Often times during medical difficulties…. loss of income is evident…. Long paper work and red tape can discourage those already in dire need. We hope to meet these needs to help lift those burdens so they may concentrate on getting better and stronger. |
Who We Are:
Sandy McBurney: Secretary “I first met Karey Fox at a Ladies Night Out Christmas Party. We said hello and introduced ourselves and hugged. From that moment on we were fast friends. It was easy to love Karey. Her sweet and loving nature drew you in from the very beginning. If she wasn’t wearing a hat to cover her newly growing back hair, I wouldn’t have even known she had cancer. In getting to know her better I found hope and faith in her spirit. She had fun in everything that she did, loved everyone she met, and had faith in God that she would beat cancer. She never let that hope waiver. I learned from her not to let anything get me down, or to give up on my own faith, no matter what was happening to me in my life. Although she is no longer with us, I will always have my memories of her jokes and laughter, our quiet times with God, our loving tears and her fighting spirit will live with me forever. Thank You Karey, for helping me to be the person I am today!” Tootie George: Treasurer “Karey Fox was a young lady that was molded into my heart when I first met her over 15 years ago. Our friendship grew and we became so close that I adopted her as a daughter. With her outgoing personality, she always had a positive note for everyone she came in contact with. Her wide beautiful smile would light up the darkest room. When she heard the news about cancer overcoming her body, she didn’t let the cancer control her life. Although she had to face surgery, she kept taking steps toward recovery. Treatments of chemo along with meds were a part of her weekly regimen. She remained in remission for almost 7 years. Then the battle for her life began but she didn’t bat an eyelash to go forward with the next step that was necessary. She continued working for an insurance company whenever her body gave her freedom from sickness. Her fleet of prayer warriors were with her, if not in person, in oneness with her willingness to see the victory. Whenever she heard of someone suffering from cancer, she took time out of her schedule, to contact those individuals and gave them words of encouragement, edified them and then prayed with them. Her laid down life was never one about herself but for the sake of others. The last few years of her life were experiencing new drugs and treatments. Everything should have worked but her life was in the hands of her Savior. Although her lungs collapsed, her heart never wavered and the angels came to carry her home. She is now resting in her eternal home and watching over those who are overcome with this disease that has taken a toll on so many lives. But Praise our Lord for those who come to “know” Him in the midst of their battle.” |
